What Is EPCS?

Electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) replaces paper prescriptions for Schedule IIโ€“V medications. The DEA mandated specific logical access controls โ€” including identity proofing and two-factor authentication (2FA) โ€” that must be met before a practitioner can transmit electronic controlled substance prescriptions.
