What is Rxfill and Rxfill Alert?
What does Rxfill & Rxfill Alert mean?
RxFill, a message format facilitated by Surescripts, is intended to deliver precise and detailed updates concerning the status of individual prescription fills.
Within the healthcare realm, a “rxfill” encompasses data related to prescribed medications being dispensed from a pharmacy. Any changes in quantity for medications prescribed to a patient during the dispensing process at the pharmacy are communicated to the healthcare provider through rxfill messages. This streamlined communication process ensures patients can access their ongoing medications without unnecessary delays.
When the Rxfill service level is activated, prescribers will begin receiving electronic prescription rxfill requests from respective pharmacies. The received requests will be accessible under the “Pending Rxfills” or “Pending Rxfill Alerts” link, prominently displayed on the prescriber information band beneath the prescriber’s name on the top ribbon.
How does an Rxfill differ from an Rxfill Alert?
DRX utilizes demographic data to synchronize patient details with the rxfill request, following the guidelines set by Surescripts. If a direct match between the rxfill request and a particular patient cannot be established, a patient record will be generated in the rxfill alert tab.
Note: Information regarding prescription fills may not be accessible for every prescription. Fill data will be displayed in DRx only if it is provided by the pharmacy.
